Five Years of Collective Power & Building Our Future Together

For 10 years, I served survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. Half of that time was spent supporting youth survivors in crisis, and the other half worrying about how many more survivors would come through our doors. Even on the hardest days, I held onto hope for a future free from violence. And now, I get to help build it.

Survivors. Organizations. Allies. Rising. That’s what SOAR stands for. But it’s more than our name. It’s who we are as a network of 50 community organizations, how we work as a movement, and our core belief that a future free of violence is ours to build.

It will take all of us—survivors, organizations, allies and community members calling for change.

Today, as we launch our five-year Impact Report and our Fundraising Campaign, we’re celebrating what we’ve built together and asking you to help build what comes next.

Our goal is to raise $100,000—and thanks to the Anita Bhatia Foundation for Tomorrow, every dollar up to $70,000 will be matched, turning every $100 into $200 for the movement to end gender-based violence.

Our Impact Report tells the story of what we’ve built together:

  • a more connected movement,

  • survivor-centered storytelling,

  • research and resources that strengthen frontline organizations, and

  • a collective voice for change.

Looking ahead from now to 2030, we will focus on:

  • Investing in violence prevention programs, by and for young South Asians

  • Amplifying research on gender-based violence, through partnerships with universities and policymakers

  • Building the capacity of frontline organizations to continue providing critical services to survivors

  • Creating opportunities for survivors to share their stories and shape how we understand gender-based violence

Your support makes this work possible. Building a future free of violence requires all of us to envision and invest in what comes next - a future abundant with safety, equity, justice, joy, and healing.

If you have felt called to act in this current moment, join us to build a future free of violence.

With hope,

Sundal
