Opportunities to Support SOAR
We’re looking for visionary leaders to help shape SOAR’s future and join our Advisory Board, Impact Council, and Ambassadors Circle.
About South Asian SOAR
South Asian SOAR is home to a powerful, long-standing movement to end gender-based violence in the South Asian American diaspora. Since our founding in 2021, we’ve grown into a national network of 50 grassroots organizations and over 200 survivors and allies united in our commitment to prevent and end violence. Together, we center survivors’ voices, build collective power, and strengthen the field to create a future free of violence and abundant with joy and justice. SOAR is at a pivotal moment—building on the foundation established during the organization’s first five years while continuing to grow as an early-stage organization in an evolving landscape
Our groundbreaking work has been mentioned in NBC Asian America, Gothamist, and Prism. You can find more of their work at these links: Their Light Remains, Sanctuaries Storytelling Anthology, Research Reports, and their South Asians for Abortion Hub.
About SOAR’s Advisory Board
South Asian SOAR is seeking new Advisory Board* members to play a vital role in shaping our strategy, advancing our mission, and amplifying our work as we grow. We are seeking Advisory Board members who are collaborative, strategic, and proactive and are excited to contribute their expertise, resources, and networks to help advance SOAR’s work. Advisory Board members will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and other advisory board members to scale SOAR’s impact and strengthen the movement to end gender-based violence in South Asian communities.
We are particularly interested in those with expertise in institutional or individual fundraising, communications, legal or financial expertise, and scaling organizational growth.
Our goal is to build an Advisory Board that reflects diverse perspectives and identities and remains deeply rooted in SOAR’s values.
Advisory Board Member Expectations:
Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per month, including five annual virtual meetings
Term Length: One 2-year term, with the option to serve an additional term
Financial Contribution: Make a significant personal contribution and/or secure additional resources in alignment with SOAR’s give or get policy
*As a fiscally sponsored project of the Social Good Fund, SOAR’s Advisory Board holds the core responsibilities of a traditional Board of Directors, though final legal and fiduciary oversight rests with our sponsor’s Board of Directors.

Members are typically movement leaders and practitioners across GBV, South Asian, and adjacent sectors who bring deep field expertise and perspective.

SOAR Ambassadors Circle
The Ambassadors Circle is a network of community leaders who actively support SOAR’s visibility, resource mobilization, and mission. Ambassadors leverage their networks to amplify SOAR’s work, engage in peer-to-peer fundraising, and serve as champions for the organization. In alignment with their expertise, members may also provide targeted guidance or open pathways that accelerate SOAR’s growth.
