Sonia Bala Rastogi

Sonia Bala Rastogi is an advocate, strategist and practitioner focusing on gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive rights and public health.
She brings a passion to advance social justice and prevent violence in the U.S. and globally. Her experience and leadership spans service delivery in humanitarian settings to national policy development, narrative shift, community organizing and philanthropy. Sonia is currently a Senior Program Officer in the Gender Equality Division at Gates Foundation and Board Member of Open Data Watch. She previously worked with Positive Women's Network - USA, UN Women, UNICEF, International Rescue Committee and World Bank among others. Hailing from the Bay Area in California with diasporic roots across India and Japan, Sonia finds the most joy being outdoors, chatting over chai and listening to live music. She holds a Master of Public Health from the Mailman School at Columbia University and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Fletcher School at Tufts University. Sonia is based in Seattle, WA.
