Hana Mangat

Hana is Punjabi, Sikh American living in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in the DMV and began organizing with her mom in 2012, in the aftermath of the Oak Creek, Wisconsin gurdwara shootings.

She co-founded and led Sikh Kid 2 Kid, a youth run organization that told the story of the Sikh community in schools, through curriculum changes and a state-sponsored, student-led teacher training program.

Since then, Hana has worked in various policy, research, and fundraising spaces. Her work has spanned issues like housing, mental health, and education. She’s also created various reports on experiences of immigrant communities including the stories of migrant youth & their policy recommendations for the U.N. and the labor trafficking experiences and resilience of Filipino migrant workers during the pandemic.
