Just Launched: Our Abortion Care Guide in 20 South Asian languages!

Yesterday, we shared our Community Briefing on Abortion & Reproductive Health Needs in the US-Based South Asian Diaspora. In one of the several conversations that led to the briefing, our member organizations called for: “resources & education materials in multiple languages” and “a culturally specific toolkit geared at young adults for sexual health” to meet the needs of their communities.

And today, we are THRILLED to finally share our first resource in response to that call: our Abortion Care Guide (ACG) in 20 South Asian languages! This is a powerful and historic moment for our diaspora, as we take a critical step towards both closing gaps in access to as well as inspiring dialogue about sexual and reproductive health and wellness.

With that, we invite you to read, download, share, and take pride in the first-ever Abortion Care Guide by and for South Asians.

While we have a ways to go, we are deeply grateful for your support to meet our communities’ needs. Read on to learn more about the Abortion Care Guide, Social Media Toolkit, Feedback Survey, Merch, & more!

What is the Abortion Care Guide (ACG)?

The ACG is a medically-factual, linguistically-tailored information on abortion logistics, methods, and aftercare, created by and for South Asians. It has been created with the support of several individuals and organizations, including content from Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), translation by Respond Crisis Translation, and artwork by Jabin Ahmed

Why was the ACG created?

Through member meetings and townhalls, our members called for culturally and linguistically accessible sexual & reproductive health & wellness (SRHW) resources for South Asians. Without resources, we cannot make informed decisions about our bodies, let alone have conversations about them.

South Asians, especially survivors and other marginalized groups, deserve access to knowledge and information that is relatable, accessible, and celebratory of their bodies and cultures.

Watch Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal share the importance of the Abortion Care Guide!

In honor of AANHPI Heritage Month and the launch of our Abortion Care Guide, we invited Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal to offer her reflections on why the Abortion Care Guide is a critical resource to fill gaps in access to care for our diaspora.

  • Share the ACG with your peers, friends, and partners using our Social Media Toolkit which has graphics, captions, and links!

  • Share your feedback through our ACG Feedback Survey to help us improve the ACG and the next resources in the collection.
