Yasmine is a nonbinary, queer, disabled policy advocate and community organizer based in Philly. Their family is Indian-Kenyan diasporic. They are a survivor and approach their work with abolitionist and reproductive justice frameworks as established by Sister Song. 

Shortly after college, Yasmine began community organizing in Chicago for the Repeal PNA campaign that removed parental notification laws for youth seeking abortion care in Illinois. After 3 years of coalition-building and advocacy, the campaign won! Since then, she has written legislation for Chicago City Council, co-founded a youth mutual aid group (The Acorn Collective), and worked with formerly incarcerated people on their re-entry. 

Yasmine is a board member at Escape AYA Cancer, a nonprofit that provides space for LGBTQIA+ young adults with cancer experiences to feel represented. They are also a policy advocate and researcher for The Chicago 400 where they campaign to eliminate public conviction registries and housing banishment laws that uniquely impact people experiencing homelessness. 

Yasmine holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Biology from Oberlin College (‘19) and a Master’s of Science in Law from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law (‘21).
