Our Year in Review

Last week, our team gathered for an inspiring in-person retreat in Oakland, CA. We reflected on the highs, lows, and lessons learned from a transformative year, and most importantly—we left abuzz with excitement for our vision for 2023. The conversations from our retreat revealed the importance of knowing our why—it's what gives us the conviction to build an unstoppable movement to end gender-based violence.

Through the launches of our Survivor Storytelling Program, Together We Rise report, and Their Light Remains, our work has remained rooted in our values of survivor healing, justice, and joy. As a team and collective, this commitment is something we are deeply proud of. We invite you to learn more about our process and impact in our first Impact Report. And amidst multiple attacks on gender equity and safety, we stayed grounded in community and care. In particular, these words from one of our members captures this beautifully—

“I think of SOAR as a comforting hug, with a wingspan capable of capturing the entirety of the United States. It's energizing to know that there are so many of us collaborating across state lines to imagine better futures for our communities.”

We can’t wait to share our vision for the coming year, but for now, our team will be resting through the first week of the new year.

Most importantly, we want to say thank you. Thank you for being on this journey with us, for being our allies, and for making our work possible.

With gratitude,

The SOAR Team
